Progress!

Janet came over today and we read, reread, deciphered and finally cut our fabric for the Judy Niemeyer class.  I have a hard time separating values...lights from darks and mediums...and that is one of the things Janet really helps me with.  By the end of the day 20 yards of fabric had been sliced and diced and loaded into 5 plastic baggies with cryptic lettering on each.

The nicest thing as we moved through the ironing and cutting was hearing both of us sigh and comment on how much we loved the fabrics we choose.  It's always nice to feel a connection with the project and have a desire to see it come together.

These are the fabrics I've chosen to do my quilt in.  The directions said to choose 10 light and 10 dark fabrics.  Ummmm.....the dark and the light were easy but all the gradations in-between were difficult.  The other problem is picking that one piece, or maybe two, that make everything else pop....a certain color that adds the spice.  I hope I have it.

The Pattern

This is the pattern I've chosen to do at the Judy Niemeyer retreat in Panama City.  Janet and I will be attending in February and hopefully we will be learning the fail proof technique for perfect points!???  I have 3 of Judy's patterns so I hope the technique makes for quick completion of what looks like very complicated patterns.
